Charlotte, North Carolina, September 24, 2013    Atheists, agnostics, freethinkers and humanists from all over North and South Carolina will converge on Charlotte the weekend of October 4-6 for the Carolinas Secular Conference. The event will be held at the Hilton Charlotte Executive Park Hotel, 5624 Westpark Drive. It will mark the formal launch of the host organization, the Charlotte Coalition of Reason (Charlotte CoR), an alliance of the following eight nontheistic (atheist and agnostic) organizations in the area: CLTCoR-Where We Are

  • Charlotte Atheists & Agnostics (Charlotte)
  • Cabarrus County Atheists (Concord)
  • Exploring Humanism Group (Charlotte)
  • Hickory Humanist Alliance (Hickory)
  • Recovering From Religion–Metrolina Chapter (Gastonia)

  • Skepticism Advocacy Group (Hickory)
  • Youth Secular Association–Charlotte (Charlotte)

The conference theme is “Coming Out,” being a call for people who don’t believe in a god to become more public about their views.
